Chasing the Cerasuolo

Footprint of the North, raw material from the South. Sought and found in the South-East of Sicily, with the aim of making a great Cerasoulo di Vittoria.
When ten years ago Stefano Girelli, from an historic Trentino wine family, with production branches also in Tuscany and in the USA, decided to transfer the whole business to Sicily, people thought he was crazy.  Going from Pinot Grigio to Frappato seemed like a leap into a void.  The biggest change was in production philosophy - yesterday conventional, today organic.  A lot of change, a lot of investment.

The chosen area to realise the dream was Vittoria, home of the only DOCG in Sicily, Cerasuolo. Here, Girelli and his sister Marina in 2016 acquired the estate “Cortese”, where they produce wines of excellence -organic, authentic, with big personalities.
